Our colleagues from the club and the organization of The national exhibition of agapornises have shared with us their impressions about this year edition.

11th national exhibition of agapornises

After last year celebration it is ten years since the club was founded and the 10th year of the club exhibition, we started to write another history of our club and the organization of exhibitions of Agapornises. The biggest Agapornises exhibition in the Czech Republic took place from 27th to 28th September 2019 in the hotel and restaurant Colatransport in Brno – Holásky. Preparation of the exhibition began after the annual membership meeting, which took place in March. This meeting always sets out, among other things, a schedule of club events for the whole year. Always during this top meeting of the club members, new opinions and ideas will come up also thanks to the new members which are the engine of the movement forwards for better club actions.

The main novelty of this year was the invitation of a foreign judge with a BVA International license, who judged the birds on the exhibition. Despite the significant financial demands of this step, his participation on the exhibition was positive, because he was willing to discuss about evaluated birds, the errors that should be avoided in Agapornis breeding in the future and to move Agapornis breeding, not only in the Czech Republic, to a new quality level.

The preparation of the exhibition started during the Thursday afternoon. The Friday started as usual, with the reception of the birds for the exhibition. At noon there was a veterinary inspection of the Agapornises, followed by judging of Mr. René Poštulka and Mr. Bernd Ziegenfuss. After lunch, there was a club member meeting in the near restaurant.

The exhibition started for the public on Saturday from 9 am. The morning we all spent at the exhibition and answered visitor’s questions. Exhibition ended at 3 pm, followed by cleaning of the hall and departure of exhibitors to home. This year there was record number of Agapornises exhibited and thanks to the well coordinated team, which managed to manage the exhibition. The interest about the quality of Agapornises was probably the biggest during the time of the club existence. Visitors from various parts of the Czech Republic, but also Slovakia, Hungary and Poland visited the exhibition. Again, several mutations that, had their premiere, were presented, Agapornis Fischeri pale fallow, or Agapornis Nigrigenis SF Euwing violet D blue. There was also a growing international interest – exhibitors from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Italy.
